Off Topic; A Picture Adventure is Worth a Thousand Words!

Hey guys! Holy crap, am I on time this week? Am I okay? Are you okay? Today’s post is back on the topic of Spooks, and yeah I’m totally going to get back on topic or figure out what the heck is going on here. Like, really, I’m having an identity crisis. Do I want to be spoopy or cutesy? This past weekend, I definitely chose the former option, and opted for not just spooky but hella scary…. and invigorating. After the adventure I had,  I’m honestly so jazzed. Like I said, we’re off topic today. Let me explain.

Picture Adventure is a new Youtube channel and Instagram phenomenon, and we’ve joined forces to explore abandoned buildings and lesser known locations. There will be some spooks later on, like after this post. I want to say, that I’m deeply grateful for their acceptance of myself and my fiance` to tag along and participate in their amazing explorations. Despite being up-and-coming, they have a great energy as a group and a marked professionalism that I can’t wait to watch blossom. On Thursday I posted a poll on Twitter to see if you guys would be into hearing about my foray into our Abandoned town. Honestly, I was probably going to talk about it anyway, but it’s nice knowing that you’re at least somewhat receptive.

Shh… He’s Sleeping

The first location we went to was located in [REDACTED], and was formerly a either a bowling alley or a theatre. It looked like at some point, it was re-purposed into a church or some sort of sanctuary. And interestingly enough, it was occupied… more on that in a minute. We entered the building and started (poorly, I guess) making sure we were alone. I snapped as many photos as I could with the poor lighting.

I wasn’t able to do too much in the way of photos, since as we left the entryway and entered into the larger room it was pitch black. It was either camera or flash light, and ya girl needs to see. There were Christmas Ornaments strewn about, as there’s about 4 of us exploring the black and wide open space of what looked to be a church, one of the group raises the alarm. She was in the entryway snapping photos and panned her lens down to see… what else? A homeless man sleeping. I have one question. How did we not see him?

Once the alarm was raised, we all started making our way over to a secondary exit that our fearless leaders had found. When we reached the sunlight outside, all of us were confused. Had he been there the whole time? Was he planning something? Was he dangerous? Of course, in my infinite knowledge my immediate reaction is basically, “Oh, he’s alright. He’s sleeping.” I mean, we got past him right? But, would he have let us leave? We’ll never know, because we escaped clear on the other side of the building.

Skating’s Not As Fun as I Remember…

After the sheer adventure that we had started out with, we were ravenous. We headed out for food and made planned out next steps. This next place was a little bit of a ride from where we were eating, but it was alright. It ended up being super worth it. Our second location was a long-closed and abandoned skating rink. In the back of the building, we found some green and purple Joker Mardigras beads. My first thought was Souvenir, one of the group was a little more level headed and got some strange vibes from them.

We should have listened, in retrospect, rather than one of us pocketing the beads to distribute later. The guys went and cleared the location and called out to us, one told us to be careful because it smelled like “old people”. When I, and another companion, stepped in we smelled something more like vanilla cupcakes rather than an old musk. I didn’t smell mildew or anything, despite smelling nothing but when we were outside.

I took as many pictures in here as I could, also. Since we left the large door open, at the entry point I had some light to utilize. We found a room filled with cubbies and I was told it had been a costume room, I didn’t like the overall energy in the room. Despite being a fairly large room, extending back what must have been greater than 15-20 feet, I felt enclosed. We slowly traversed around the skate floor, there was an attic entry. And seriously, you couldn’t pay me to go in that thing. It looked cool though.

When we made it toward the front of the building, there was a piece of insulation on the skatefloor that (I KID YOU NOT) had me so bent out of shape. It looked like a child with her arms around her knees, and she looked like she was turning her head to follow our progress. At first sight, my heart stopped but as we got closer I was able to make sense of what I was seeing.

In one door way, about even with the “girl”, one of us asked if someone had been beside him. He was convinced that someone had been right at his arm. Nope. Not us. Pretty much all at the same time, our attention is pulled to this room. It’s a mid-sized room with a cement floor and boxes stacked along one wall. There’s a large iron (steel? maybe?) red double door, the threshold is the same size as the door. And just as soon as we acknowledge the room, we decide we want nothing to do with it.

The guys make their way inside, either oblivious to the energy that is emanating from it or uncaring. Hesitantly, we followed suit. The guys discovered that the door had bullet holes riddled throughout it. There are also shell casings strewn about the floor, I know someone voiced that at least some of the bullet holes were from the outside-in. Had there been casualties? Why is someone firing a gun at a skating rink? There’s a pressure in the room that is altogether unwelcoming. I feel a light pressure on my throat, causing a very anxious knot to form there. Suddenly, the girl who had the beads pocketed, runs out of the room with her hands touching her throat. She looked terrified and we followed her out, where she reported that she had felt someone (or something) choking her.

At that point, we decided that it wasn’t worth it. We hadn’t even been looking for anything spooky, but it found us anyway. As it would later turn out, both she and I had nearly identical marks on on our lower throat. I guess I can’t go back in there, and I don’t know if I want to. I’ve been marked by whatever’s there. Who’s to say what it can do to us next time, especially her? And, don’t worry, we abandoned those beads. No thanks.

The Mill: Take 2!

We left the Skating Rink more than a little shaken up and worse for the wear, given the circumstances and find that we still crave more thrill. We need more adventure. After encountering whatever entity resided there, in what used to be a carefree locale, we craved more. If you’ll recall in one of the Halloween Event posts, I believe it was this one, outlining a hunt I had with a friend. We had initially sought out to explore an old textile mill in the area, and we thought we had found it and that it had been turned residential. We were mistaken. The mill that we had found was residential, but the one we were looking for was no longer functional and thus in a mid-state of demolition. The Mill had been completely gutted and all that remains are the perimeter walls and an elevator shaft.

It was intensely photogenic, but likewise impregnable. All entry points were fortified with steel and concrete, save for a tunnet with YEET graffiti with 18 Es. And unless we wanted to pull some Assassins Creed stuff and scale the wall… there was no way in. We had to admit defeat, but not before sticking our cameras into the elevator shaft. I didn’t see anything but one of our group confessed on leaving that he had seen a shadow figure walk by inside. We also came across some gentlemen who had been shooting a music video so there was an opportunity for unexpected networking. Our appetites barely sated with the bitter taste of disappointment lead us to make plans for the evening.

Baby’s 3rd Ouija Session!

At 6 PM we reconvened at a Coffee Shop to gather our wits about us and group up to make our way to the final destination of the evening. It was one I had never heard of despite the deep dive I did on Google previously; Demon bridge. I came in with my Ouija Board in tow, and my trusty EMF detector to aid in investigations. My fiance was in attendance but opted to stay out of the affair entirely. We started with an EVP session, that I haven’t heard as it’s currently being edited I would assume.

Alongside the EVP session we had the EMF detector for simple Yes or No answers and also to detect when whatever we were communicating came closer to us. It was quickly determined that whatever was there was the same entity that had followed a previous group member after a previous investigation and that it didn’t like me. It would only really respond to one of the group member’s questions and all out ignored mine. One of us looked toward a second bridge over the right and states that she saw large masses that looked like dogs. My initial thought is hellhounds, but why were they there?

Someone asked if we should do the Ouija board, and I was told afterward, that one of us heard a menacing laugh at the mention of it, which made her go back to her car. As she was leaving, she heard children’s giggling. It was kind of understood that what we were interacting with wasn’t exactly positive and that the Ouija board may not be a good idea in that light. This revelation caused one more of our number to depart to safety. If we weren’t going to do the Ouija Board, what had we come for? We made our way through the brush where we had been hearing footsteps and those aforementioned giggles. We set up the candles around the board and set up camp to start the session in a far less conspicuous spot.

Part of it was kind of nonsensical, the entity might be a mother or child, indicated by the “Yes” followed by the slow slide to “No”.  When we prompted it for a name, we were first presented with ZoZo. Before anyone gets worried, it was not preceded by the telltale figure eight and there was no wooing of us by this entity. It also likewise gave us the name Mama, which is a pseudonym for ZoZo. No thanks. Most of the words the entity spelled with the board were terribly misspelled, I wonder if they maybe didn’t know how to spell? I recall one thing we got from the board was something that seemed like a super misspelled “Madame”.

Over the course of this (seance?) we heard clear footsteps coming from both sides of the bridge. There were multiple laughs heard from the darkness around us, and figures darting just out of sight. The thing that confuses me the absolute most is that we saw what appeared to be a blue LED flashlight beam making its way through the brush. It was unanimously assumed that it was one of our companions who had gone to safety earlier. About 10 minutes or so later, I wondered where he was and realized what it may have been.

This whole time I was terribly uncomfortable, as I had to lean over my lap and keep my arms outstretched. After a while, we asked if we could end the session and were granted permission a far cry from my previous experience of us taking control and saying, “We’re ending the session, goodbye”. We performed a saging on ourselves and the board to ensure that whatever was there would stay there and then we left the dark underbelly of the bridge.

When we made it to the road to say our goodbyes, I immediately questioned one of those who had gone to safety to ask if he had started to come down and then changed his mind. He and the others who had been with him confirmed that no one had been returning and in fact… He couldn’t even find his flashlight. At that point, several of us spotted a large figure in the middle of the road standing in the middle of the bridge that we were just under. It was watching us leave.

What I saw was a shadow that looked to be darker than the darkness around it. It appeared to be draining the meager light from it’s surroundings. I got the urge to run, but didn’t want to be rude to my newfound friends.  To be honest, I was too happy when they suggested that we should probably leave. I unceremoniously booked it to the car and then proceeded to spend 10 minutes lost (with a GPS). It an adventure that I didn’t want.

I did make it safely home. The whole night I kept thinking that I felt ‘dirty’- was I followed? After a couple days I honestly think it’s just some residual energy that I’m trying to shake off. I haven’t had any additional activity at my home and my animals are still doing what they do best; sleep and be cute. No nightmares or random bruising, aside from whatever happened the skating rink. I do feel like I’m just shaking off some residue but I’m otherwise no worse for the wear!

I do want to say really quickly, before I sign off, a PSA: Java and Jeans does not suggest that you explore abandoned buildings with out the consent of your local authorities. Trespassing charges are nothing to trifle with. If you’re going to explore, please be sure to utilize the proper channels to make sure you stay safe, healthy and out of trouble. Exploring is great, but I urge you to do so responsibly. With asbestos, squatters, legal repurcussions and, not to mention a more paranormal flavor of risk, it doesn’t pay to head in half-cocked.

Java and Jeans is also in the midst of a few changes, so stay tuned for those as well! I love you all, and I’ll see you next week!

Unplanned Hiatus Update! Haunted Doll and the Future!

Hey, guys! I’m sorry I disappeared on you guys again. This hiatus was brought to you by the stinging pain of failure. Failure of the 13 days of Halloween that I valiantly attempted. I have a somewhat Halloween themed update for you guys. I did acquire a haunted doll, I wandered around the Thrift Shop with a spirit box and EMF detector asking every possible haunted doll if they were haunted (quietly) until I met one that seemed to like me.

The first word I got was Lauren, and she guided me to her vessel with the EMF detector and a description of her clothes. Before leaving, I asked if she wanted to go home with me. Through my makeshift SB7-Spirit Box, I heard a clear “Uh-huh”. Ever since I’ve been dedicated to misinterpreting her words via the pendulum. So with a method, I’m not able to mess up, the EMF detector, I asked her to respond to my questions.

I told her the drill, no response means “No” and a spike means “Yes”. Tonight I was able to hold a long conversation with her. When I had the Spirit Box running, I could have sworn I got the name “Danielle” and that’s what I’ve been calling her. I asked her if I had been misinterpreting the pendulum by micro-movements, and she told me yes. Okay, no problem. I decided to verify her name, she told me I had been calling her the wrong name and her name is Lauren. The first name I got in the Thrift Shop. Was Danielle an entity passing by? We were right by Samhain, so perhaps, and perhaps she hung around for a little bit afterward.

Poor girl is a trooper and is willing to give communication a shot with an actual SB7-Spirit Box. I explained to her how they work and she seems pretty sure that she can talk with it. With our interactions so far, it seems like she has a lot to say that I’m missing out on with the EMF detector. The last bit of info I got about her tonight was that she passed in 1810, in Georgia. But, she’s not sure what region, maybe she was taken? I’ll probably verify that info with her when we get the Spirit Box to make sure my dumb self doesn’t misinterpret what she tells me.

She’s quite sweet and I’m happy to have her here. I’m also thrilled that she’s communicating with me a little more. Last week, I saw a large orb in the hallway. And tonight, I heard a door open the hall while my fiance was fast asleep. She seems to like my cats, and they seem to return the sentiment as wherever she is, they’re laying on or near her.

Haunted Doll- Lauren

With the post I had planned sometime during October, out of the way, we do have some plans coming up! Also, I won’t be posting a lot of spiritual, paranormal, or otherwise spoopy stuff moving forward. Only that which I deem significant. And I would love  more haunted doll updates!

Since my gig is reviews on establishments, food, and events, I will be writing a post on a metaphysical shop in Auburn here soon. I’ll be opening votes on Twitter, as to whether I post about an abandoned building we’re going to explore this weekend as well.

My Paranormal Story Time; Baby’s First Ouija Board

Hey guys! I know I’m now short 3 Days, 2 after this goes up. Halloween can be all year around when you’re somewhat tuned in to the paranormal. LoeyLane on Youtube doing spooky content, and beauty, kind of made me realize that it’s a thing I can do. I think I prefer the written word over videos, but I might try to bring back videos eventually. Today’s post is going to recount one of  the most notable paranormal experiences I’ve had.

This experience really solidified what I already knew about the supernatural; that it’s there. I hope you enjoy it, and do as I say, not as I did. Always approach the paranormal with cautious respect because the thing is, you won’t always know who you’re communicating with. With that disclaimer aside, let’s get to it!

 Did you hear that?

When I was in highschool I had a fairly large group of friends, a lot of us were into the paranormal. My mother, as I assume most do, advised me not to use the Ouija Board. Ever. She regaled me with tales of glowing red eyes under a bed and unexplained noises. I thought nothing of it. I always thought that surely a piece of cardboard couldn’t summon anything… right?

One night, I went to my then-best friend’s house, where she, her 4 siblings and our other good friend were already hanging out. Someone had acquired a Ouija Board. I still can’t remember how they got it, but they really wanted to use it, since their mother was out of the house. I was a little hesitant, even though I didn’t really believe Mom’s stories. Reluctant, I gave a little pushback on using the board- after all, I didn’t think it would work, but why take that chance? I suggested, that we use a candle and have the hypothetical spirit respond YES or NO via the flame. For some reason, I wasn’t vibing with using the planchette. I didn’t feel safe giving whatever might be there too much ability to traumatize us. That house always creeped out, so the spirit was going to be restricted.

They agreed and we set to work making sure there would be no interference from a rogue gust of wind, and made sure the AC was off, windows closed and all that. We even shoved a blanket under the door,  just to be safe. Once we were satisfied, we situated ourselves around the board and lit the tealight candle right between YES and NO.

The first question we asked was something like, “Is there a spirit present?” to which we received an affirmative. The spirit seemed to indicate, that it was some relative of one of ours. We asked some pretty dumb questions, being basically still children with no real fear of the paranormal. At some point during the questioning, the energy changed. The air became thick and almost hostile. Someone said they could see a shape in the room with us. I felt a phantom touch and immediately choked up. You know that feeling when you were a child doing something you’re not supposed to do, and a door opens somewhere else in the house? That feeling of inevitably being caught redhanded? When all the air disappears from the room? I had that feeling.

Whatever was in attendance, was not happy with us or the way things were going. We were all getting increasingly frightened, as the temperature in the room dipped giving us all chills and goosebumps. Finally, I said, “Spirit you may depart. This session is done. Goodbye,” my friends muttered their own Goodbye to the spirit and I started to feel the air clear a little, once we blew out the candle. Suddenly, we heard a loud crash in the living room area and from just on the other side of the door, we all heard a scream. It was so full of fury and hate and rage, but the weirdest thing was how it sounded. I almost don’t know how to explain it, I feel like it was right outside the door, but somehow it had some sort of distant quality? Like simultaneously close and far away.

We were, of course, very unsettled. So we sat in the darkness for a moment, gathering our nerve to go investigate. Myself being on the Spiritual side, lead our excursion. We slowly left the room in a single-file line, and made our way through the living room and around into the dining area/kitchen. When we got there, the light fixture for the dining room was in the middle of the floor. Luckily not broken, but we found the source of one noise. We moved the fixture to the table and made sure the house was clear. Nada.

We eventually went back to the bedroom and went to sleep all together, none of us wanted to be alone.

When I woke up in the morning, I quickly got my aunt to come get me and bring me to her place, where I was living at the time. I can’t remember the whole day, I’m pretty sure I played DDR or something. But later that night, I laid down to sleep and put on one of my CDs on a low volume to help me sleep, and kept the TV on to illuminate the room a little. This fear of the dark has never left me.

I’m not sure what time it was, but I was in a deep sleep facing the wall with my back the room. I heard a loud bang or something I’ve described as a drumbeat in my head. Loud and jarring. Startled, I rolled over to inspect the room to look for a source of the noise and I saw something. A tall, solid black silhouette of what appeared to be a man striding from the area of the door. He had a long stride, and was walking parallel to the bed toward the window. I panicked and threw myself bodily out of bed, making sure not to get close to the figure, and into the wall by the light switch. Once the light was flipped on, I collapsed by the door, still somewhat in the grips of sheer panic, and saw nothing.

There was nothing in the corner, nothing anywhere. I feel like a spirit followed me, and was basically calling me an idiot and showing me that I was lucky that it was just him. He held no malice for me, that I could feel. He just wanted to startle me. From that point, I proved how big of an idiot I can be, by trying to communicate with this spirit. He never came through for me, which at the time bummed me out. He had a message and that was all. I told my friends my experience with him and they told me they had seen a similar entity.

I wonder if he just followed us to kind of wag a finger and scare us straight? In any event, whatever was at my friend’s house, I never want to experience that again. That inhuman scream will haunt me always. It took me over a decade to touch a damn board again.

That was my first ever actually substantial paranormal experience, I hope you guys enjoyed it. I havea few other stories to tell you, but since this one was a little longer than expected, I may split those others into additional Halloween Posts. As usual for this… event? If you guys have had any experiences, feel free to share them below!

These 11 Dolls Are Spirited!

Hey there guys! We’re still one day behind, but I was determined not to fall two days behind. Evidently my method for doing this has to change- I’m making it a goal to dedicate the time next year to be ready way beforehand. My binding contractual promise aside, let’s get onto today’s post. Today we’re going to be taking a look at something I had forgotten entirely. The haunted dolls that grace the lovely site of Ebay. This post includes the ones that caught my eye earlier and a couple that I regard somewhat skeptically.

Let’s get on to the haunted dolls!

1. Lilly

Haunted Doll- Lilly     ” She was known to be a good luck charm. It seemed like good things happened to people she was around. Her dads car broke down when she was 12 years old and he was about 1,000 bucks short of fixing it.He never played lottery but figured what the hey.Bought a few tickets and on the last one he scratched won 1,500 bucks. He fixed his car and took Lilly to the Goodwill and she picked out this doll in which her spirit is now trapped.”

Lilly appears to be a lucky spirit that will bring you joy if you decide to become her new family. She is a young soul, and from the looks of it, may facilitate fast recovery as well.

2. Angie

Haunted Doll- Angie“I have seen black shadow people and my crosses that I have hang up on my wall go upside down and they are thrown across the room. She has chanted something I don’t understand but sounded very evil and it scared me. She told me her name Angie and how she worshiped the devil when she was alive and how she sacrificed her self to the devil and that’s how she died”

This charming doll has a very disheveled look, but if you like to walk on the darkside she might be calling to you. Do you enjoy hanging out in the dark and chanting cryptic phrases in ancient tongues?

I mean no disrespect to the owner of the doll, but this honestly sounds like a load to me. Anytime anyone basically attributes something’s malevolence to the devil, it immediately loses it’s credibility to me.

3. Melanie

Haunted Doll- Melanie
Srsly guys- I want this one.

“Melanie was 17 when she died in an auto accident. She is a very sweet spirit and very friendly. She likes music and tv and loves to have her hair brushed. She is active and has opened and closed her eyes, changed facial expressions and moved her host to change positions. She will answer questions with a ouija board, pendulum and spirit box,She has a calming feeling around her,”

This one, oh ma guys. I want this one. Honestly, I think Melanie is calling me. I messaged the seller to get more information on her and got the quoted text in response. She’s perfect. I can see us sitting on the couch together watching TV, Binging Youtube. I call Dibs on this one, guys.

4. Betsy

Haunted Doll- Betsy

Betsy was a slave during the civil war. She had a very rich owner that took a likening to her which his wife knew nothing about. She told me his wife found them together in bed. She wanted him to kill Betsy. So he took her to the hanging tree to be hung which she said is were she died. She says she has traveled many years and took on different vessels till she found this vessel and me. ”    If I wasn’t already sold on Melanie, I would probably be vibing with Betsy here. She seems like a very peaceful and harmonious spirit who doesn’t mean any harm. She’s musical, according to the ebay listing. She sounds sweet.

5. Jessica

Haunted Doll- Jessica

“The more attention and communication we have the worse things get. My other spirits call her demonic, I don’t know if they are just jealous of her strength and our bond. ? Jessica is definitely an evil spirit. That I can vouch for. In my professional opinion she is definitely demonic.
Her owner died, she was elderly. And now things between her and I have crossed the line and I won’t tolerate it.
Jessica is between 10-15 years old, so she says. I have 1-5 more spirit dolls in this house that I have so, many tricky things can happen in many different ways.
Jessica is extremely strong. The strongest vessel out of 200-215 of them. But of course you have to consider what I’m working with.”

This listing makes me so curious. I would almost buy her myself, but god knows what sort of negativity has been imprinted on the poor girl. With this kind of projection there’s no telling. I do almost want to message the seller an ask what happened that you won’t tolerate? I mean that sounds like a great story, right?

6. Brigitte

“Brigitte was a working girl, she had lost her parents when she was only 13 and began working as a showgirl at a very young age. Brigitte was hardworking and very independent, she had a lot of sex appeal and and quite a way with men. Brigitte was a very dominant and sensual woman. She had worked hard her whole life only to have it taken all away so briefly, she tells me she’s alot happier now, she says she has let go of the past and is ready to start enjoying the finer things in life. Brigitte’s passion in life was singing and dancing and being the absolute best performer she could be. She has been quite wonderful to have here in my home.”

I don’t know about you, but to me, Brigitte sounds delightful. She sounds like an amazing house guest… or squatter, because you know, she can’t pay now. But she can definitely bump up the vibes in your abode.

7. Mandy

Haunted doll- mandy

“This lovely has flickered lights, candles and drained my devices And in the wee hours of the morning I have heard footsteps near my front door I have also heard gentle chanting or singing And have experienced her touching my arm giving me a hair raising tingling sensation I have seen her apparition It is dark gray misty transparent and disappears very quickly seems to have sparkles If light around the perimeter of this lady like figure You 🌸will also receive a Simple Ritual for Protection and all you need to perform it when using any type of divination such as pendulum, ouija board, spirit box sessions etc… ”

This benign white witch spirit even comes with a protection charm. She would be perfect for a practicing pagan, but I wouldn’t recommend her for someone who doesn’t believe in or practice in the arcane arts… you know, because she might get bored and restless. Hey, New Agey people, I think I found your girl!

8. Ashley

Haunted Doll- Unknown

WARNING: VERY STRONG PRESENCE! Ashley is a wise old soul with a sweet, helpful spirit. SUPER POWERFUL/ NOT A TOY! Shipped with USPS First Class Package.

I feel like I would also vibe well with Ashley, here, we share the ties of a common name. We both are named for a Meadow of Ash Trees. She’s absolutely beautiful and I feel somewhat drawn to her as well. I may have to stick with my friend Melanie though, because she’s in my budget. But goodness, the way this one is looking at me. I feel like if she is haunted or possessed, the sellers assessment is accurate.

9. Brigitte 2

Haunted Doll- Brigitte 2

“Brigitte comes through as a very down to earth young lady. Her energy is positive even though she has been through a lot. She communicates with sounds. I can hear creaking noises and have seen a flashes of light in my ceiling. She enjoys nature and said she loves birds. Brigitte was part of a large family so she enjoys being around children and people. She can be shy around men though. She is a special young lady wanting a fresh new start. If you feel drawn to her please don’t hesitate and take her home.”

We have another Brigitte here, and she is a through-and-through lady. She is nobility and carries herself as such. If you have children and/or pet birds she may be a good bet for you.

10. Madeleine

Haunted Doll- Madeleine

“Madeleine was an artist. She loved fine arts and was a natural at painting. She dreamed of becoming a famous painter and traveling the world. She communicates through visions. She shows me her paintings of landscapes and fills my mind with colors. Her personality is vibrant. She comes through full of life and energy. She is friendly and talkative. ”

I can see this lovely lady being a good fit for creative and those who have insatiable wanderlust. Also, fun unrelated fact to the lovely lady we see here, this is the same seller as the previous Brigitte. This is another one that I could see myself vibing with, but I’m still set on my girl up there.

11. Kimma

Haunted Doll- Kimma

Meet Kimma, Kimma always loved cooking. Ever since she was a small child she would be in the kitchen with her grandma. Her Grandma taught her how to cook the best food. Kimma grew up and went to culinary school. She graduated and tried out for a hollywood tv show that she had to compete in. She got through some until she was eliminated. She was devastated.  Kimma died somehow. Not sure how though but her spirit is now in this vessel.”

I put this one on the list because of the listing- looking at the doll, I can sort of believe that there’s a spirit attached to it, but I do advise to take this one with a grain of salt. The vague listing details are a touch dubious. ALSO!! One of the lines below states “she’s not evil, just disturbed,” so there’s that.

Are any of them calling to you? You might want to take a look at the description on the item page before making the purchase. Evidently if they’re calling to you across cyberspace they want you for their owner- but beware, if they have negative traits that you find unacceptable, it may be a match made in hell. And, I swear guys, I’m going to be super upset if my girl Melanie is bought out of from under me. I swear on me mum.

I do of course, suggest also approaching haunted dolls with caution. It is something we don’t understand, so it should be treated with respect. For instance, with my sweet girl Melanie up there, I have lofty plans of hanging out on the couch and watching YouTube together, maybe combing her hair. If there are entities attached to these haunted dolls, we don’t want to make them angry and cause a malevolent haunting to occur in our home base.

Favorite Local Legends in my town of Columbus

Hey guys! We’ve made it to day three, and considering how unplanned this is, that’s really impressive… even if it’s a little late. We’re a day behind! But, I started so I am now compelled to see it through the day 13! But, considering 13 is an unlucky number, I maybe should have chosen a different number to count down from. I was totally unsure about the topic of today’s post, until my friend showed me a book covering the Legends and Lore of the area I’ve lived in for 4 years.

There are so many legends and ‘haunts’ here that I’m ashamed, I had no idea. I guess my plan is to take you through 12 of them in the spirit of today.

1. House of 1000 Cadavers

This is the most intriguing name I have ever seen attributed to a house, in pretty much ever. When I hear the name, I immediately wonder ‘why? what happened? where are they? And of course, where did they come from? where did they go?’ This house was constructed in the 1830s according to the National Registry of Historic Places, and officially the name of the home is the Old John Woolfolk House. August of 1877, Tom Woolfolk killed his 9 family members with an axe, giving it the new moniker of House of 1000 Corpses. Which, no disrespect intended, is far from accurate. Tom Woolfolk was executed by hanging, on October 29, 1890, after being found guilty of nine counts of murder.

Fast forward to the modern day, it is said, that upon entering the home you will hear the sound of pained moaning emanating from the middle bedroom. The house is inundated with cold spots and doors that seem to open and close of their own accord. Some visitors to the home claim that entering the home, you feel suddenly confused and disoriented, some assert they felt like they were losing their minds.

The more expert visitors to the House of 1000 Cadavers have captured flitting orbs and shadow people- no word of full body apparitions. They also state that they catch unusual sounds, bangs and thuds and disembodied voices. There have been cases where some investigators were cut and scratched and even saw partial apparitions while walking through the house.

2. Cry Baby Bridge

I know that most towns have lore about a Cry Baby Bridge, I’ve seen a million shows talking about them in other towns but the story is always similar. Honestly, I was completely unimpressed when I heard about it, due to the prevailing legend that seems to be everywhere. I haven’t been able to find anything to support the legend, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing there. Legend has it that either a baby accidentally drowned in the creek, or a mother drowned her child. To this day, a figure in white is said to be seen at the bridge, which I can substantiate with personal experience per events that occurred last night. Another part of the legend states that you can hear a baby crying, but you have to be on the bridge to experience it.

Like I said, I can’t substantiate legend with any corresponding articles, like I can for the murder house but regardless, it’s definitely an experience.

3. Twin Chapel Creek

This is one that we hunted for for a while last night and had no luck whatsoever in finding it. Evidently there is a small rail that looks kind of like one from a school, that tells you you’re in the right place. It’s just off Whitesville road and I’m going to hunt it down in the day light one of these days, to be honest. According to the legend, the creek bed if home to its very own Murderous Copy Cat Clown, The Creek Freak. The Freak is said to reside off the creek and makes his way to the water’s edge to sob incoherently at his own reflection. Encounters with the clown are rare, but it is said that a group of teenagers sought him out and found him.

The Creek Freak is said to be a clown from about the turn of the century and appears in  a white clown suit adorned with ruffles. His face is white with bright red or orange lips, with dark (what used to be paint) around his eyes giving him a skeletal appearance. I’m not able to find any proof for this legend either, but it’s definitely interesting though it is worth noting that the legend formed around the time clowns were making their Horrific come back in the movies and serial killer culture. It’s not too far fetched to believe that spirits that inhabit these areas where no correlation to fact can be found, may be Tulpas of a sort. Are they there because we seek them out? Do they manifest because we who believe want it so badly that they are forced into manifesting?

This legend also includes tales of a pipline between Riverroad and Twin Chapel Creek where you can bound slaves crying in pain and shouting for help. No records exist that I found to lend truth to this tale either.

4. Resident Ghost at the Port

The Naval Civil War Museum, where I attended the Death By Chocolate Masquerade last year is said to be home to its own haunt, that of William Cushing.  Cushing was born in 1842 in Fedonia, New York. He was something of a war hero, but was not fully appreciated by his peers who viewed his methods as dangerous to himself and others. In 1864 he came up with a plan to sink the confederate iron-clad Albemarle that was docked at the port, He birthed a pan to sink the fortified vessel with a spar torpedo (basically a bomb on a stick) and he spared the vessel in the side. The resulting explosion threw both his men and the confederates a ways, both he and his men were captured as they swam towards shore. The man in question escaped and was safely behind Union Lines.

William Cushing was larger than life, insane, industrious and fearless. The room at the Museum that holds relics of his life and acts, has a guest of honor periodically. Cushing has manifested as disembodied voices, glowing eyes and white mist. I’m unsure if there is just him or other entities in attendance at the Museum that pays homage to them, but to this day books are said to fly off of shelves in the gift shop and voices are heard reverberating through the museum when there are no living visitors.

5. Spirits of the Springer

The home of the shameless and talented, the historic Springer Opera House is also home to its own host of resident ghosts. I’m going to summarize the legends below, because this post has taken longer than intended. So you can read more in depth here. The Springer Opera House is nestled among the aged brick buildings in the homey and beautiful downtown area of our little town of Columbus. One of the resident spirits in attendance, is the little brother of the infamous  John Wilkes Booth, Edwin Booth. At the time of his visit to The Springer, he played a memorable role in Hamlet.  It is said to playfully harass visitors and legend has it that he will continue to do so until Hamlet is once more performed on that stage.

There you have it guys! Our belated post featuring my favorite legends that exist in this town right under my nose! In fact, I’m going to be heading to my actual home town here soon and there’s some further legends there that I may be checking out! Do a quick search with your home town and share what you found in the comments below! I love hearing about legends!
