Whats New; February Posh Peach Edition

Hey guys! Welcome to a new What’s New post for our very own Posh Peach, here in Columbus, GA.  Also, holy cow, is this one on time? I know the last post was a little different, but I hope you guys enjoyed it! I was absolutely floundering in my indecision on what to do with my hair. This post was gathered before my medium-chop, so it has my old hair in it- all future posts featuring the likeness of yours truly, will include my new-do, and I’m not even going to lie- I’m still way on the fence with it. I’m so on the fence that my first stop after leaving the salon was the beauty supply to grab a wig.

That aside, I did find a few new pieces at the Posh Peach that I’m excited to share, and even brought some of it home with me (like I often do)! Without further ado, let’s get to the goods!

I was able to find most things on the site- this was not one of them, however. It may be because this isn’t technically new to their shop, as it was on the sale rack. Who would I be if I passed up the sale rack? In the future, I think I’ll make an effort to confine my search to the newest-of-the-new for you guys! That aside, I really quite liked this romper (jumpsuit?), aside from the pesky little fact that it wouldn’t zip on the side that you can’t see. Oh, you thought I was just showing off my new tattoo? I was holding my arm in such a way to make it look zipped. That aside, I really wish this would have zipped up for me, because I really liked it! It was corduroy, which meant that it had a little give in the fabric and was warm. It broke my heart.

I think, I would pair this with champagne accessories like a scarf or headband. Maybe a long beaded necklace, too.

I did find two different pairs of corduroy pants for today’s post! I didn’t even think I really liked corduroy until just lately, but that’ll show me to think I know what I like. This particular pair is an earthy brown that I paired with their Back in Brick top, which genuinely can pass as a dress if you pair it with some super opaque tights or leggings. I thought these paired very well for a comfy and somewhat 70s vibe. I feel like a scarf would have tied it all together, and perhaps a paisley headband. Of course, my converse don’t lean to that aesthetic, and truthfully I’m at a loss for what sort of shoes I’d pair with this!

This outfit was a little bit of a hit and miss with me. I wasn’t a big fan of the fit of the Spring Time in Heaven skirt or the stiffness of the material. The look between myself and the gorgeous model is a stark night and day- despite the similarities in our color choices. I really liked the colors of the skirt and was more than a little distressed that it didn’t quite suit me. The dog mama tee was just a little more sheer than I would generally prefer, as well. I feel like if the skirt ran a little larger in the sizing, it would have been fine.

This is the last thing that I can call new! I thought this was the Sweet Like Sugar wrap dress, but after looking at it closer I’ve determined that I need to wear my glasses more often. This is most assuredly not the wrap dress, but it certainly is adorable. I sadly, couldn’t find this item on their site after scrolling through the categories. This would be perfect for a datenight at a fair, dare I say, the upcoming Spring Fling here in Columbus? Suddenly I’ve decided that I’m lacking fair-appropriate styles and I need to fix that.

This dress would be great with some strappy little sandals or some simple white pumps. Just really play into the sweet, femininity with a flowery necklace and, if you have long hair- a ponytail would make the whole look.

The Winners!

The items that went home with me from this visit, may seem familiar! They were featured in January’s What’s New Post! While I’m thinking about it, what was with that post title? Did I think I wasn’t going to be going back this year? Anyway, I’m super pleased that I was able to score my coveted funfetti cardigan and corduroy pants! Of course, since the pants are decidedly not new, I was unable to find them to provide a link.

In this photo, I paired it with the Dog Mama shirt, that I almost bought. I decided that it was either the cardigan or it, and guys… I love me a cardigan.

Anyway, thank you guys for joining me for another What’s New post at one of my favorite shops in my lovely little town. And, can I just please give some props to the gorgeous ladies that model their clothes? Those are the faces of the sweet girls that work there, and they are just wonderful. Guys, please, share your secrets to looking so relaxed in front of the camera!

I hope everyone is having a great Monday so far, and that those Resolutions are holding up for you! I, for one, have already lost my planner that was part of my resolution and I’m feeling lost without it. ūüôĀ

Boutique Debut; Feeling Chic with Fabr’ik!

Boutique Debut; Feeling Chic with Fabr’ik!

Hey guys, welcome to yet another late post. I have figuratively fallen off whatever wagon I was on that made me prompt with my posts. Must be something in the water? Anyway… excuses aside, I was going to beguile you with the apex of my Valentine’s day festivities, but I imagine that might come across as me being immodest, so I’ll give my lovely future life partner props at the end of this post!

For the curious, you can check on Twitter for the play-by-play where I live-tweeted the scavenger hunt. I also bragged on him a little on Instagram, but not quite as much. On twitter I’m also @java_and_jeans so if you’re curious, there you are!

Moving on to the post at hand. On my fabled Weekend of Content when I took myself to Auburn to experience some of the missed opportunities there, I found Fabr’ik. A chic and comfortable little boutique that, at a glance, was a little above  my pay grade. But, I did find that I picked the right day to make the journey, because they were having the biggest sale of the year. Lucky me!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The wall of shoes in that slideshow broke my heart, due to the fact that I was fruitlessly infatuated with some white booties that ended up not being my style. All of the other shoes I fell in love with, were too small. That aside, my hunt was fruitful.

One of the first things I was drawn to was this fiery sequin dress, from the clearance rack. It may be a little short, but nothing that some opaque black leggings can’t remedy. I’m feeling like this would be perfect for the holiday party this year… After all, I did say I was going to wear sequins. I’m glad it fell into my lap, and was only 40 dollars!

This was the other thing I was absolutely obsessed with, and admittedly I usually do the reverse of this. I generally save the selections for the end, but I guess I decided to put those first today. This particular outfit was just too perfect- I’m a sucker for halter-tops and the shorts were so comfortable. This will be perfect for an upcoming trip to the beach, or out of state somewhere a little warmer! I feel like some simple flip-flops and an anklet would make this.

These two things, I thought were moderately similar. The pink patterned one, while cute, wasn’t quite my style as I had thought. That adorable rose patterned one was amazingly comfortable. Had nice soft fabric that feel cool to the touch… but didn’t quite fit right. I know it might look like it does, but that zipper would. not. cooperate. I think of the things that didn’t come home with me, that second romper is the one that got away. What if it did fit?

This last item was something that, at first, I was really feeling. Honestly, I loved the pattern of the jump suit, I liked the fabric, the top and the boots… but separately. I feel like, even though I kind of liked the boots, they too far deviated from a distinct me-ness that I’m trying to find. I don’t wear faux-snakeskin, I wear converse, suede or leather. Maybe if these were a slightly different material, I would feel otherwise. But, alas.

The jump-suit itself, barely fit. Which legitimately upset me. I have such a hard time finding a jump-suit that actually fits. It’s either nice on my waist, and too short, or long enough but too tight. This one was the former… kind of. I think the fit is a little awkward, truth-be-told. While I loved the aesthetic of the white top with it, I couldn’t make myself love it.

Let’s move on past that heart-break and get on to my feelings on Fabr’ik!

My general feel on Fabr’ik was a somewhat mid-to-high-end boutique in the perfect downtown location. It’s literally nestled in a 2 block radius with like 3 or 4 other boutiques. Perfect for them, not so much for my self-control.  The general aesthetic of the shop was welcoming and warm, with a strange Southern Chic vibe that I picked up from the couches with a cow skin rug.

It felt much bigger than it looked, with the arrangement of the items. That’s a great accomplishment because it’s a fairly compact venue. I love what they did with it, andI loved the wonderful staff there, too. I will definitely be returning to see what sort of new stock they get in the next few months!

       (¬Į`*‚ÄĘ.¬ł,¬§¬į¬ī‚úŅ.ÔĹ°.:* ūĚíĪūĚí∂ūĚďĀūĚĎíūĚďÉūĚďČūĚíĺūĚďÉūĚĎí’ūĚďą ūĚíüūĚí∂ūĚďé *.:ÔĹ°.‚úŅ`¬į¬§,¬ł.‚ÄĘ*¬ī¬Į)

I don’t want to bore you guys with too many of the details, since you can check out the scavenger hunt below!

The aftermath of every thing ended up looking something like this!

He had that sign custom made for our wedding this year! I’m so excited for the time to come where we can finally get married- I love this man more than anything and I’m literally so lucky that I can’t express it properly. I know this post comes a little (lottle) later than I would have likes- I’m prepping the post for Thursday and filming the Tarteist Pro Remix video, as well!

I’ll leave you guys with this lovely picture of us hanging out in front of the overlook at the Country Kitchen in Pine Mountain, Georgia!

(¬Į`*‚ÄĘ.¬ł,¬§¬į¬ī‚úŅ.ÔĹ°.:* ūĚíúūĚíĽūĚďČūĚĎíūĚďáūĚďĆūĚí∂ūĚďáūĚíĻ *.:ÔĹ°.‚úŅ`¬į¬§,¬ł.‚ÄĘ*¬ī¬Į)

…wait, I lied. I do want to give props one more time. You guys may have seen a coffee sign in that Twitter story. That was inside of one of my absolute all-time favorite shops. The storefront sign probably ruins any sense of suspense here. But, I want to extend a thanks to the beautiful people over at UniquExpressions for being a part of another precious memory for us! I hope we create so many more memories with you guys! I’m currently planning another trip out there as soon as time and money permit to hit that little boutique and drink about 10 cups coffee!

Finally, I want to close this post off with a big thank you to you, my readers. I don’t know what to say except I do see that these posts get into the double-digits, and I’m so incredibly grateful for that. I feel like maybe I’m reaching someone, and I’m just so legitimately happy that you’re here. Just a heads-up, I do plan another giveaway soon, so stay tuned for that! This next one may be physical goods that are shipped out- I’m just finalizing those plans!

Boutique Debut; Oh, So Charming (Oaks)

Boutique Debut; Oh, So Charming (Oaks)

Hey guys! It’s definitely been a long week, especially with all the running from the weekend robbing my poor little feet of sweet relaxation. Though they may ache and complain, I have no regrets! Especially with this first fashion related post from last weekend. This post is dedicated to my favorite outfit that I had to pass on, sadly, due to cost, and the breadth of the shopping I did this weekend. RIP at Charming Oaks toasty knit tank and navy skirt. I’ll never forget you.

Before we dive into the outfits that I was able to find, let’s take a look at the aesthetic and an honorable mention. Their aesthetic feels like hospitality. It’s got a very welcoming feel in all of the warm colors and even the layout is open and inviting. When you walk in, you see this huge layout of racks and clothes of all kinds of colors. They have this adorable aesthetic lighting in the back that has the shop name, Charming Oaks, which was the only picture I thought I was going to get with all the rain outside.

In true JaJ fashion,  I did that thing where I went to a shop and picked at least one outfit to take home with me. I say at least one, because I did choose two items from one particular shop, which I’ll be showing you in an upcoming post! I’m seriously so upset that I could only pick one outfit from Charming Oaks, but I’ll definitely be back once I gather my resources back up! I’m coming for you, Charming Oaks. Be ready. I know I am. ūüôā

I’ll start at item number one that I tried on, just because it’s visible in my other pictures. I found this adorable red polka-dot summery dress on the clearance rack. In fact, all of my finds are from the clearance racks. I’m boujee on a budget, what can I say? This dress was way too cute for 5 dollars, and just my size. The fabric was breathable and light, perfect for the summer. I can’t wait for the warmer weather so I can pair this with some simple wedges and an anklet. Maybe a straw hat?

Charming Oaks Red Summer Dress
Pardon my mismatches socks- I think my house doesn’t want my socks to match because they KEEP disappearing.

My second outfit was my favorite. I loved the little cardigan-thing, and the toasty knit tank that confuses me on what season it would be for. It would be far too hot for the summer, but would be great for the cooler weather if you wanted to just have it peek out of a plunging neck. I paired these items with a high-waisted navy skirt and felt so chic. I feel like would be great with some navy pumps, or shoot, even my tried-and-true hightops that I absolutely swear by. This would have been a great outfit for our trip coming up, too. Cold weather be damned. I do think I’ll return to Charming Oaks for this outfit, or one like it.

Charming oak knit tank and navy skirt

I had few items that didn’t work out due to sizing issues, and these shorts were very nearly among their number. With an adorable bird patterned romper, and a sweater dress that I almost cried when I found it didn’t fit. This next outfit might be tied with the above, actually. As I look at it, I like it more and more. The loose-fitting olive green, drapey tank and black shorts combo is another one that begs for converse. Or, gold flats, would be a marvelous choice too! At first, I flat-out didn’t like this one. I generally stay away from really loose things, because they tend to make me look boxy. Boxy isn’t sexy, guys. I don’t like boxy. Like, give me a nice silhouette, c’mon.

Charming Oaks black shorts and olive tank

You can literally see my doubt. I have a whole, “Do I like this?” thing going on. If I had been able to find a pair of black shorts that were just a little more my size,I would have absolutely bought this outfit.

My general concensus of Charming Oaks is that I’m thrilled with my experience there. My debit card had issues, but that was no fault at all of the lovely and understanding ladies that manned the counter. I was absolutely obsessed with that Valentines day shrug in the slideshow way up above. I certainly have plans to return for some serious retail therapy!

What’s new: Revisting The Posh Peach!

Hey guys! I know I did a what’s new on the Posh Peach a little more recently than most! But, proximity really makes it a consistent target for me. There’s going to be a what’s new on Lizard Thicket and Sassy and Southern, here very shortly! Maybe I’ll even visit The Blushing Brunette again. Who knows? I’m planning a whirlwind Weekend of content leading up to the Masquerade

As usual, I’ll display my runners up and then save the victor for last! Because, there is a victor. I only did three full outfits for this post, so it should be a somewhat quick one!

The Posh Peach has some amazing bell bottoms, and you guys know I love me some flare. I’m also a big fan of oversized sweaters. So this outfit is way  up my alley. These sunny yellow bell bottoms were on their new arrivals rack, and as luck would have it, they had some in my size. To my great pleasure, they’re not your typical button up pants. They have a wide elastic band in the waist and the fabric itself has a nice amount of give.

I paired this with a pastel large pink sweater. I’ll be honest with you, I love love love this sweater. It’s so soft and light, it’s perfect for the fall. I really liked it with these pants.

This next one is a little out there, I found a Kimono and some white bell bottoms. The white ones, I had seen on their site and subsequently got obsessed with. I love the flare leg and the fit. The only thing I didn’t love was the kimono. I tried three different ways to wear this thing, and while I think it looked okay I don’t think it was something that really suited me. It was super comfy though. And had I been able to make it work for it, it would have been my choice.

Neither of those looked quite right, and I wasn’t in love with the Kimono alone. So this was definitely a hard pass for me.

Moving on to the winner and runner-upin one! I found this adorable dress on their rack outside, I knew I had to layer it. But with what? I scoured the racks inside to find a viable option and landed on this starry shirt. It fit comfortably, but too comfortably. It was a little bigger and less flattering than I felt like it should have been with this dress.

Disheartened, I had an idea. That pink sweater that I love so much. So I gave that a go. It works! I think this is my perfect fall outfit. Just throw on some grey tights and maybe white flats, and you’re good to go! It’s a little oversized, but that just adds some charm. It’s cute, feminine and (best of all) modest.

This outfit now sits in my house, waiting for the temperature to dip into the 60s, so I can break it out. Speaking of the temperature dipping, I did get one more thing. Though on a separate trip. Really, I didn’t want to leave you with just 3 measley outfits, y’know? I made my way to the Posh Peach while on my lunch break, which may have been a lapse of judgment, honestly. Since I’m on the lookout for that new Anastasia Palette that I’m dying for.

But, go in I did and I found something. Well, some things. I  found a front tie purple shirt that I loved, and I had found this really cozy cardigan. Though it’s technically a S/M, it fits larger. I think it might be warmer than my usual black coat, actually. The moment I found it on the rack, I knew I’d love it if I tried it on. I tried to put it back, I really did. But there was a voice whispering to me, “it’s the last one, so it’ll be 20% off“. And that did it. With that thought, I took it to the dressing room and tried it on.

It’s generally more color that I usually go for. But, guys, I’m feeling it. I’m kind of obsessed. At the point, it was the sweater or the shirt. At $19 dollars for the shirt and the somewhat heftier tag on the sweater, I could only get one. I asked the cashier up front if they were going to get any more of these cardigans, in a last ditch effort to have some self-control, and she responded with “Most likely not”. So… The sweater won, due to it’s amazing versatility. I can wear this with (almost) anything and it would add a cute, quirky energy that I’m kind of living for.

___________________________________________________________________________________

Hey guys! I must confess something. I‚Äôve been sitting on the knowledge that Francesca‚Äôs exists for a few months, and have yet to do something about it. This weekend, I cracked.¬†Hard.¬†I got an email that I could come in and get a freebie (which is one ‚ÄúF‚ÄĚ word that I¬†love). I did make my way into their adorable shop on the last day to get my goodie, which was either a candle or bath fizzer.

Before making my way to the counter to redeem my email, I made the grievous error of perusing the shelves. They had some adorable unicorn planners, which, had they not started in July would have gone home with me. They had a gorgeous kimono, which didn’t go with any of my items or anything in my current wardrobe. I would love to link it for you, but I’m not seeing it on their site.

When I saw the display for the shorts, I immediately knew that I wanted a pair. I needed a pair; I absolutely had to have one. After trying probably 5 pairs of shorts and not liking them with any of the tops I was selected- I did end up leaving with 3 items in total. I do want to share some knowledge that you may find useful- they have 10 dollar shorts and cover-ups right now. Use that how you will- they have some insanely cute distressed shorts with lace detailing and some with a slightly bleached look. I wasn’t lucky enough to be able to get the lace ones, maybe you will be!

On the rack, I did also find a cute cover-up that would have made a nice tank, but I passed up on it due to not knowing when my wedding is going to be. Initially tried a pair of lace shorts, but on finding that they didn’t fit I started my hunt for one that did. Francesca’s sizing is a bit odd to me, but I did end up finding shorts that fit. The only pair in my size- no joke.
